I'm really looking forward to this prequel (sort of) to Alien. It promises to reveal the secret of the space jockey :-)
You'll also notice some Blade Runner influences -- Ridley Scott directed Alien, Blade Runner and now Prometheus.

Pleased I'm not the only one. ^_^ As a deep fan of the originals, my anticipation is mixed with some terror of seeing a misfire of some of his newer ideas.
"NASA and the Vatican agree that [it is] almost mathematically impossible that we can be where we are today without there being a little help along the way... That’s what we’re looking at [in the film], at some of Erich von Däniken’s ideas of how did we humans come about."
But hey, it's Ridley ******* Scott.
A much deeper movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rcq2bdeP0Ec.
I just watched the movie today.
Gentlemen of the tuberwebs, particularly fans of the original Alien series, please imagine this post as the acoustic warning beacon from Alien 1, warning you to not watch this movie.
This movie will do to your brain what a facehugger would do to your corpus.
If I could spend another 4 hours to unwatch this movie, that is what I would do.
Etc.
I knew in my gut that you were right, but I went anyway. What a train wreck.
