Icahn Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology

Spent the day at Mt. Sinai in NYC. Their Icahn Institute is very impressive -- an academic unit that feels like a startup! See earlier post Cancer Genomics.

"What if, in addition to the SAT, students were offered new tests that measured more diverse abilities?"

you mean the way the ENTIRE rest of the world does it? not in 'merca.

'merca and canuckstan are the LEAST meritocratic countries in the developed world or perhaps in the entire world when meritocracy is defined as it is in wikipedia. "Advancement in such a system is based on intellectual talent measured through examination and/or demonstrated achievement in the field where it is implemented."

the opacity of college admissions has a purpose. unz was on to it. whether or not this purpose rises to the level of conscious conspiracy is irrelevant. it operates as if it were one.
