"Price would be at least $1.5 million here in Canberra."
And also in California! My parents bought a house in Houston, Texas last year for slightly less than what Steve's house is selling for and which is about the same size.
Housing in California is simply awful. I'm renting a bedroom from someone in San Diego right. My landlady paid a little over 500k for her tiny 1350 square feet house some number of years back. Now that house is only worth about 350k and she's underwater on her mortgage. On top of that, this house is about 25 years old and lacks central air conditioning. During the summertime, it simply feels awful inside the house.
Having grown up in Houston, I often think to myself why anyone would voluntarily choose to live in the 3rd world state that is California...
I computed the price as 800 square metre block with a view in O'Connor which is a little bit nearer to the centre of the city here as $600k and then for a house in perfect condition and nice quality fairly recent build it is about $200k per 100 square metres. So that adds up to about $1.5 million.
Nice house. Price would be at least $1.5 million here in Canberra.
