Picking it out from data aone would require a lot of hands to be sure, I think. I suppose any advantage held by humans here depends a lot on the type of tournament and average level of players.

BTW, to the earlier commenter, how exactly can you tell (online) when youSteve Hsuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02428333897272913660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880610.post-1520629136781147892007-07-27T09:21:00.000-04:002007-07-27T09:21:00.000-04:00"I imagine machines are not as good at playing tou..."I imagine machines are not as good at playing tournaments -- i.e., picking out and exploiting weak players at the table."

Can't see why not - they could still look at patterns of play couldn't they and start to recognise common signs of weakness?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880610.post-47182382572474127712007-07-22T05:55:00.000-04:002007-07-22T05:55:00.000-04:00This experiment won't prove anything. Poker is a high varience game and you need a HUGE sample size to determine who's the winner and what their edge is. 2000 hands against one player just isnt' enough. With a $50,000 purse, it seems like more of a publicity stunt.

I think it's possible to build a poker bot that can collect a database of hands against an oppenent and use that informationAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880610.post-73030729316190196432007-07-22T02:01:00.000-04:002007-07-22T02:01:00.000-04:00Go is the most interesting game I know, by far.Go is the most interesting game I know, by far.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
